Gold CalculatorTo use this very simple calculator you simply need to find out the carat of the gold you want valued. You will normally find this engraved onto the piece of gold itself; you may need a magnifying glass to view the engraved number. Once you have this number weight the gold, you must weigh it in grams. After you have both of these simply input your weight of the gold into the top input box and use the drop down box to input the carat of your piece of gold. Simply press the button below this will work out a very close estimate to the gold's value and will give you a figure which you can relate to if you wish to sell the gold. Remember this calculator is for solid gold items such as coins to jewelry or even gold tooth fillings but, please remember that gold plated items will not work with this calculator due to fact this works on the base of the weight of the item and gold plated items will include the weight of the non-gold sections of the item making it not accurate to the buyer or the seller. Costume jewelry also cannot be valued here as it is not solid gold and will not give an accurate result to the true price to the piece of jewelry. The calculator works by getting the price of gold in ounces, then it divides that by 31.1 to get it into grams. Then it works out the purity by dividing the carat by 24, it then times these two values together, then finally it times This calculator is here to help you calculate the value of any scrap gold you may have. Gold is a very valuable resource and can be sold for a large amount (depending on the weight and carat). Gold price has been increasing over the past years and the price of gold has tripled since April 2001. Even due to recession gold still has managed to reach over the $1000 boundary even against what people had feared its price continues to rise and making this resource even more valuable to the owner or potential buyer. Carat is the scale used to show the purity of the gold, the higher the gold the more pure the gold is. The values of carats are 10, 12, 14, 18, 22 and 24. To have solid gold you must have something which is 10 carats or more, and if you were to have 24 carats you would be able to mold and change the shape of the gold with your own hands. Gold is a very good investment and many people have been known to spend their money on buying gold and transferring all their money into gold items such as jewelry and gold bars. Instead of keeping their money in the bank or keeping it in the government's money due to the fact that the value of the gold constantly rises allowing them to make money back on the investment they are making on the gold and even though the recession is happening people are making money as the value of gold is continuing to rise they are able to bring in more money they original had by selling their gold. |
